CHITIN 1-Year Limited Structural Warranty

Every CHITIN canopy is backed against manufacturing defects for a full 12 months from delivery. Here's exactly what's covered, what isn't, and how to file a claim.

The promise

Backed for 12 full months

Structural integrity, guaranteed.

CHITIN guarantees that your canopy's shell, welds, and structural integrity are free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months from the date of delivery.

If a covered defect appears within that window, we'll make it right at no cost to you — see the claims process below. This warranty extends to the original purchaser and applies to the canopy as originally delivered and correctly installed. Within the coverage period, the following are repaired or replaced at our discretion:

  • Structural welds — cracking, separation, or failure at any factory weld
  • Shell integrity — defects in the panels, frame, or load-bearing structure
  • Factory finish defects — peeling or bubbling powder coat caused by a manufacturing fault
  • Hardware defects — hinges, latches, locks, or seals that fail due to a manufacturing fault

What's not covered

Exclusions

Damage from use, accidents, or modification isn't covered.

This warranty covers manufacturing defects only. It does not cover damage caused by:

  • Improper DIY installation — incorrect mounting, over-torquing, or not following the install guide
  • Off-road accidents & impacts — collisions, rollovers, trail damage, falling debris, or road hazards
  • Modifications — any cutting, drilling, welding, or alteration voids coverage on the affected area
  • Automated car wash damage — abrasion or finish damage from car-wash brushes or high-pressure equipment
  • Normal wear and tear — minor scratches, scuffs, fading, and gasket compression over time
  • Exceeding load ratings — damage from loading the roof or rack beyond its rated capacity

Out-of-warranty issues can usually still be fixed — replacement parts and repair quotes are available. Just reach out.

Claims process

How to file a claim

Three steps. We evaluate within 3 business days.

  1. Email support. Write to orders@chitincap.com with your order number and vehicle VIN.
  2. Document the issue. Attach high-resolution photos and a short video that clearly show the defect.
  3. We evaluate. CHITIN reviews your claim within 3 business days and determines the remedy — repair, component replacement, or refund — at our discretion.

We'll keep you updated at every step and resolve covered claims as quickly as we can.

Liability

Limitation of liability

Our total liability is capped at the purchase price.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CHITIN's total liability under this warranty — for any claim of any kind — will under no circumstances exceed the original purchase price of the product.

CHITIN is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of use, loss of time, vehicle damage, or labor costs for removal or reinstallation.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights; you may also have other rights that vary by state.
