Delivery

Shipping & Returns

How your canopy ships, what to do the moment it arrives, and how returns work. Two minutes of reading here protects your order.

Production Timeline

Allow 10–12 weeks from deposit to delivery

Every CHITIN canopy is made to order for your specific truck.

Because your canopy is built to your truck’s exact specs, there’s a production window before it ships. Here’s the full timeline after your $250 deposit reserves your build slot:

  • Week 1–2: We verify your fitment by VIN and confirm your build spec
  • Weeks 2–12: Your canopy is precision-manufactured at our partner facility
  • Freight transit: Once ready, delivery to your door typically takes 5–10 business days

Total: expect 10–14 weeks from deposit to delivery. We send production updates along the way — you hear from us before anything ships.

Picking up in Orange County? Local pickup is available as soon as your build is complete, with no wait on freight.

Industrial transit

Built to arrive in pristine condition

Every canopy ships in a heavy-duty wooden crate.

A CHITIN canopy is a large, precision-built structure, so we don’t cut corners on how it travels. Every order is secured inside a heavy-duty, protective industrial wooden crate and moved by specialized freight to make sure it reaches you in pristine condition.

Two ways to receive your build: pick it up free at our Orange County warehouse, or have it shipped by LTL freight to your address — your exact delivery rate is calculated live at checkout.

  • Crated & braced — your canopy is anchored inside a custom wooden crate built for the journey
  • Specialized freight — shipped on a pallet via dedicated freight carriers
  • Signature required — someone must be present to receive and inspect the delivery

Freight deliveries are typically curbside or driveway-side, not inside a garage. Please plan a way to move the crate the final few feet, and tell us in your order notes if you need lift-gate service or have restricted truck access.

Important — read before delivery

Mandatory delivery inspection

Inspect the crate before you sign. Every time.

You must inspect the exterior of the crate BEFORE you sign the freight delivery receipt. Your signature tells the carrier the shipment arrived in good condition — so this two-minute check is essential.

If the crate shows any sign of damage:

  • Take clear photos of the damage before the driver leaves
  • Write “Damaged Upon Arrival” on the driver’s delivery paperwork
  • Contact us immediately at orders@chitincap.com with your photos and order number

Documenting damage at the moment of delivery is what lets us file a freight claim and make it right at no cost to you. Signing a clean receipt for a damaged crate makes claims far harder to win — so when in doubt, note it.

Returns

14-day returns on unused items

Unused, uninstalled, and in the original crate.

We want you to buy with confidence. Unused, uninstalled canopies may be returned within 14 days of delivery.

Change-of-mind returns

  • A 15% restocking fee applies to all change-of-mind returns
  • The customer is responsible for return freight costs
  • The item must be returned in its original wooden crate

Returns are strictly rejected if

  • The canopy has been mounted or installed on a vehicle
  • The original wooden crate has been discarded or damaged
  • The item shows any sign of use, modification, or wear

Made-to-order and custom-spec builds are produced specifically for your truck and aren’t eligible for change-of-mind returns. Defective items are always covered under our warranty policy. To start a return, email orders@chitincap.com with your order number.
